Part 8:

Going forward, my goal is to continue growing my consultancy.  Where I’ve found the most success is with clients who are looking to scale their business either through new product areas or expanding their reach.  They have a clear product vision and need support to make it happen.  One of the first questions that I’m asked is “have I ordered the right amount of stock?”  The answer is never straightforward, it’s the investigation that brings about quality conversations and allows me to understand why the question is being asked, what next steps are required to address any concerns and what priority each one has.

As a side project, I’m particularly interested in exploring how technology can further revolutionise the retail industry.  AI and machine learning have already made significant strides, but I believe there’s so much more potential to unlock.  Integrating advanced tech solutions into retail operations can improve decision making, streamline processes, and ultimately increase the profit of the business.  In retail there is a lot of data available, and the key is understanding what it means and how to use it. 

I’m also excited about continuing to share my experience through webinars, podcasts, speaking events and potentially new workshops.  My journey through retail has been filled with unique experiences and lessons that I believe can inspire others. I’m hoping that by sharing my story I can provide valuable insights for aspiring retailers and seasoned professionals alike.

On a personal note, I aim to balance my professional ambitions with my family life. Flexibility has been one of the greatest perks of running my own business, allowing me to be there for my children as they grow up.  I want to continue finding that balance, being a supportive parent while pursuing my professional goals.

In conclusion, while my journey in retail has been long and winding, it’s far from over. The challenges and triumphs have shaped who I am today, and I’m eager to see what the future holds. Whether it’s through consultancy, sharing my experiences, or embracing new technologies, I’m committed to making a positive impact in the retail world.
